The Las Vegas Grinder: Wynn Classic
Las Vegas has always been The Mecca of Poker. The weather has started to warm up a bit and the sun has been shining in the city, which makes for a great time to venture out of the house and get in on some live action. February is over and March is here, as is another tournament series down on The Strip. The Wynn Classic kicks off March 3 and runs until March 24, taking up most of the month. PokerNews is happy to provide you with all the information about the series.
The series kicks off with a $550 buy-in no-limit holdem event. The opening event should be a sizeable one with a hefty $200,000 guarantee placed on its head. There are two starting days C March 2 and 3 C and the event is a re-entry. You get one entry per starting day and the duration of the event is three days. This should be one of the best events for smaller-staked grinders in the area.
In total, there are 17 events on the schedule. The buy-ins range from $550 up to the $5,170 Main Event. There are eight $550 events, five $1,070 events, one $1,580 event and two $2,090 events. Thats a nice range for everyone, and whats even more is that the series has other poker variants covered. Of course, no-limit holdem is on the schedule and takes up the bulk of it, but there are also events in limit Omaha hi/lo, H.O.R.S.E. and pot-limit Omaha hi/lo. And for all you online wizards out there, there is a $1,070 six-handed event on March 7.
Last year, Brandon Cantu captured the Main Event title and $363,844 in first-place prize money. The field size was 242 players and the prize pool worth $1,173,700. Jared Jaffee, Tom Marchese and Keith Ferrera all made the final table. Erick Lindgren, Justin Bonomo and Andy Seth also finished in the money.
