The day started with a bang as both Rumen Nanev and Frederik Andersen were knocked out in the same hand. Former EPT Grand Final winner Nicolas Chouity was the beneficiary as his pocket jacks held up against Nanev's ace-king and Anderson's fives. This pot put Chouity at the top of the counts, and he remained close to the pole position throughout the day.
One of the chip leaders at the start of Day 2, Matthias Tikerpe, was next to go. The unlucky Estonian ran his pocket kings into Daniel Erlandsson's aces for a pot worth more than one million chips.
Chris Moorman started his day by doubling through Steven Silverman. Moorman hit two kings when his ace-king ended up all in preflop against Silverman's pocket threes. The American pro, who last cashed in an EPT back in 2009 when he finished 12th in the Grand Final, busted shortly after against Russell Carson.
Halfway through the day, plenty of big bluffs were shown, and both Raoul Refos and Jorgensen did their best to keep the rest of the field guessing. Refos pulled one off with the queen-five of clubs while Jorgensen only needed seven-eighth off suit. Carson, runner-up at EPT Snowfest Season 6, was crippled by Moorman and then knocked out by Rory Mathews to bust in 26th place.
The biggest name to bust out on Day 4 was without a doubt Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier. The man with $8,110,958 in live tournament earnings leading up to this event ran ace-nine suited into pocket sevens, and he was knocked out in 25th place.
John O'Shea had quite some swings today, and he was the next player to bust out. One of the most successful women in poker, Annette Obrestad, was knocked out today as well when she saw her pocket jacks fail to hold up against Chouity's ace-king suited. Shortly after that, the final woman was sent out the door when Kitty Kuo lost king-jack versus Moorman's nines.
The youngest-ever EPT winner came close again, but did not make it to Day 5. Mike "Timex" McDonald busted on the TV table, meaning Chouity is the only former winner still in the event. With 17 players left, the Day 5 bubble was officially on with the plan of finishing the day with 16 players remaining. The field will actually return with 15 players, because two players busted out during the same hand to end the day. Refos and Max Greenwood were the two eliminated, leaving with 18,750 each.
Play will resume tomorrow at 12 p.m. GMT and we will play down until there are just eight players remaining. Make sure to tune back into PokerNews.com and follow all the live updates.
