Germany's Dominik Nitsche Finishes 2015 WSOP as 888poker's Biggest Winner
On June 9, Germany's three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche announced the signing of a sponsorship contract with 888poker. Less than two months later, he closed the 2015 edition of the WSOP as the biggest winner among the site's team pro.
Although Nitsche did not bring home a new bracelet, over the course of the summer racked up six WSOP cashes, including a third-place finish in the Event #25: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed for $220,657.
"I am slightly unhappy with my bustout hand, but other than that I think I played really well," Nitsche wrote on Twitter right after the dream of winning a fourth WSOP bracelet ended when his J?6? lost against Pierre Milan's K?8? found a K? on the turn.
Nitsche wasn't far away from making other deep runs, as he made the top 100 in four other events, including Event #61: $1,111 No Limit Hold'em Little One for One-Drop, where he finished 99th for $4,222.
Nitsche cashed just over $240,000 at the WSOP and $479,732 in the Bellagio Cup XI on July 10.
Nitsche's other cashes at the 2015 WSOP include a 48th-place finish in Event 14: 1,500 No Limit Hold'em Shootout for $5,413, a 76th-place finish in Event #6: $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Hyper Turbo for $2,985, a 24th-place finish in Event #55: $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Draft Kings 50/50 for $6,049, and a 231st-place finish for $2,012 in Event #66: $777 No Limit Hold'em Lucky 7s. Overall Nitsche cashed for just over $240,000.
The WSOP was not the only money-making series for Nitsche, as right during the WSOP Main Event the German pro joined the Bellagio Cup XI and wound up finishing second in the $10,000 + 400 No-Limit Hold'em Event for $479,732.
Of course Nitsche wasn't the only 888poker ambassador in action during the 2015 WSOP. Sweden's Sofia L?vgren had published a whole host of events that she was aiming to play, including the Little One for One Drop, the Ladies Event, and a number of other no-limit hold'em events.
Unfortunately, things didn't go L?vgren's way and her sole cash was in the Event #20: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em, where she finished 178th for $2,813.
Fellow ambassadors Jackie Glazier, Nicolau Villa-Lobos and Bruno Kawauti also enjoyed some success at the tables, with each cashing in two separate events.
Although she did not manage to repeat the excellent performance that won her a bracelet in the Ladies Event at the 2013 WSOP Europe (WSOPE) in Enghien-les-Bains, France, Glazier did finish 91st and 68th in Event #38: $3,000 No Limit Hold'em and Event #59: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em respectively.
Meanwhile, Kawauti cashed in Event #62: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Millionaire Maker for $2,749 and in Event #62: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Bounty $1,666 bringing his total WSOP cashes to $529,166 and solidifying his 11th-place position on Brazil's all-time money list.
Lastly, Brazil's Villa-Lobos managed to cash for $17,702 thanks to a 192nd-place finish in Event #57: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em and a 24-place finish in Event #59: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.
Finally, check out how Greece-based U.K. expat Tommy Yates turned a $0.01 online qualifier into a $19,500 cash at the 2015 WSOP Main Event.
