Brazils Fabio FLBonatto Bonatto was the recipient of a cool $172,955 prize this weekend after he triumphed over 6,405 opponents in the PokerStars Sunday Million. Hailing from Curitiba, Parana in Brazil, Bonatto already has a SCOOP title under his belt and now he's a Sunday Million gong too.
Bonatto went into the nine-handed final table as the chip leader, an enviable position to be in, but he also had plenty of work to do because his eight opponents were all vying for the huge cash prize and a $30,000 Platinum Pass that PokerStars had added to the prize pool.
Russias MrLuckDrago was the first player to fall at the final table after he lost a coinflip with ace-queen against the pocket eights of 7DonCool7. Another 50/50 scenario claimed the tournament life of Kobasteris the Lithuanian king-queen failed to improve against the pocket tens in the hand of NisT_777.
Maltas 69sBigLick was then eliminated, and he was followed to the rail by NisT_777, Romanias grecu2006, 7DonCool7 and the Austrias sub230212, which left Bonatto and Arunas BalticMoose Sapitavicius to lock horns heads-up.
The final hand saw a preflop raising war break out that saw Sapitavicius all-in with ace-jack against the pocket deuces of Bonatto. The Brazilian flopped a set of twos, then turned a full house to send his opponent to the rail in second-place.
