"Tchelo Shelby" Keeps the Sunday Million Title in Brazil for Another Week

Table Of Contents
On February 23, Brazilian Dalton "Daltonhb" Hobold wrote himself into PokerStars' history books after becoming the inaugural champion of the Sunday Million Phased event, part of the Sunday Million Season. Fast forward to last weekend and "Tchelo Shelby" captured the latest Sunday Million title, keeping it in Brazil for the next week.
"Tchelo Shelby" came out on top of a 9,954-strong crowd, firing a singular $109 bullet and turning that into $85,320, including bounty payments.
It was a Sunday Million to forget for several Team PokerStars members, who entered by the mix but couldn't get a foothold. Lasse Jagd "Wistern" Lauritsen, Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, and Sebastian "peace&loove" Huber busted empty-handed. Poker power couple Marle "MarlzTV" Spragg and husband Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg did navigate to the money place. However, Marle Spragg crashed out shortly after the bubble burst, and Spraggy could only muster a 992nd place finish.
Episode 04: $109 Sunday Million PKO Final Table Results
Rank | Player | Country | Bounties | Prize | Total Prize |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Tchelo Shelby | Brazil | $32,514 | $52,806 | $85,320 |
2 | BurlacuC95 | Romania | $13,875 | $52,798 | $66,674 |
3 | Ipedrov | Brazil | $4,679 | $39,329 | $44,009 |
4 | Zero-Outer | Finland | $1,240 | $26,966 | $31,206 |
5 | Pedroadota | Brazil | $3,994 | $18,939 | $22,934 |
6 | ChrisFreeFlow | Ukraine | $527 | $12,928 | $13,456 |
7 | ThugWaffle | Brazil | $2,069 | $9,109 | $11,178 |
8 | hownorez | Austria | $2,631 | $6,464 | $9,097 |
9 | it5tricky | United Kingdom | $2,083 | $4,601 | $6,684 |
"Tchelo Shelby" was the second-largest stack at the start of the final table, trailing only "BurlacuC95." Those two grinders eventually found themselves heads-up for the title, the glory, and the largest slice of the $1 million pie.
British player "it5tricky" crashed out in ninth when their king-jack failed to connect with the board, ultimately losing to the ace-ten of clubs in the hands of "Tchelo Shelby."
Austrian "hownorez" found themselves without chips after committing their short-stack with ace-eight and losing to "BurlacuC95"'s king-jack of spades. A jack on the flop, and the nine-handed final table was suddenly down to seven players.
Seven became six with the elimination of "ThugWaffle." The action folded to Brazil's "ThugWaffle" on the button, and they committed their last five big blinds with ace-trey. Unfortunately for them, "Tchelo Shelby" woke up in the small blind with ace-queen, three-bet, and caught an unnecessary queen on the river to claim "ThugWaffle"'s short stack.
After losing three players within the first 20 minutes, it took another 20 to lose another player. "BurlacuC95" min-raised on the button with ace-four, "ChrisFreeFlow" pushed their last 1.45 big blinds over the betting line from the small blind with jack-ten, and "Zero-Outer" came along for the ride in the big blind with a pair of sixes in the hole. "Zero-Outer" check-called a third-pot-sized bet on a trey-ten-trey flop showing two diamonds, leading to an offsuit ace appearing on turn. "Zero-Outer" check-folded to "BurlacuC95"'s chunkier turn bet. A brick on the river saw "ChrisFreeFlow" head for the rail in sixth.
Another player busted as the three-hour mark of Day 2 approached. "Ipedrov" open-shoved for a shade over 5.6 big blinds from the cutoff with ace-six of clubs, putting the action on "Pedroadota" on the button. They looked down at pocket queens and called. "BurlacuC95" was in the small blind with ace-jack, and they jammed all-in. "Pedroadota" snap-called all-in for 29.5 big blinds in total. An ace on the turn and river handed the larger side pot to "BurlacuC95" but "Ipedrov" won the main pot because they'd improved to a full house.
Finland's "Zero-Outer" was hung out to dry a couple of hands later. "Zero-Outer" three-bet 9.5 big blinds after "BurlacuC95" had min-raised under the gun, leaving 5.3 big blinds behind. "BurlacuC95" four-bet enough to set their sole opponent all-in, and they obliged with a call. "Zero-Outer" showed ace-four of spades, which was in a world of trouble against the big stack's dominating ace-king of diamonds. Two spades on the flop gave the at-risk player some hope, but blanks on the turn and river ended their participation in this event.
Latest PokerStars Sunday Million Season Culminates With $6M Gtd 19th Anniversary Event
The Sunday Million progressed to heads-up after "Ipedrov" bowed out in third after a valiant fight during three-handed play. The Brazilian couldn't find a fold on the river after their ace-nine had turned a nine-high straight. They called "BurlacuC95"'s river shove only to discover that final bet wasn't a bluff; they held ten-nine for a better straight.
"BurlacuC95" held a substantial 80.3 to 19.3 big blind advantage over "Tchelo Shelby" at the start of heads-up play, and must have felt like they had one hand on the title. However, poker is a funny old game, and it only takes one hand to flip a tournament on its head.
"Tchelo Shelby" doubled-up early into the heads-up battle after flopping trip sixes in a hand where "BurlacuC95" had flopped a nine. The chip lead changed hands a couple of times before "Tchelo Shelby" started forging a wedge between themselves and their final opponent.
The final hand essentially played itself. "BurlacuC95" moved all-in for around 15 big blinds with ace-trey, and "Tchelo Shelby" instantly called with the superior ace-queen. A three on the flop gifted "BurlacuC95" an unlikely lead, but a queen on the turn left them needing a two-outer. The king of clubs on the river was not one of those, and "BurlacuC95" bowed out in second place for $66,674, leaving "Tchelo Shelby" to collect an $85,320 top prize and the title of Sunday Million PKO champion.
