Matthias Eibinger is an Austrian professional poker player. He was born on January 5, 1993.
Like many poker players of his generation, Eibinger cut his poker chops in the online poker world. Eibinger initially played cash games before transitioning to tournament poker, and he now competes in high-stakes events online and live around the world.
Eibinger has live cashes dating back to June 2016, which was when the Austrian first played in a World Series of Poker (WSOP) event. His first six-figure prize was awarded to Eibinger when he finished seventh in a €51,000 Super High Roller at the 2018 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival; he collected €110,000 ($135,057).
Six weeks later, Eibinger finished second to Jason Koon in a $100,000 World Poker Tour Tournament of Champions and banked $1,006,060. Eibinger has not looked back since.
At the 2018 EPT Barcelona stop, Eibinger reached four final tables in high roller or super high roller events and put together a deep run in the Main Event. The Austrian returned home, having boosted his bankroll by €1,252,110 ($1,447,576). In November 2018, Eibinger won a $2,000 buy-in event in Las Vegas for $575,000 and a €50,000 event in Prague for €653,000.
Eibinger's form continued into 2019 with several more six-figure hauls. He even managed to bag a $1,008,000 score in Sochi, Russi,a in March 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted all live poker.
Eibinger refocused his attention on online poker during the pandemic and won approximately $1 million. He won one of the first live events held following the lifting of pandemic-related restrictions, taking down a $50,000 buy-in event at the Triton Poker Cyprus festival for $676,000.
