A Mixed Field of Players Return for Day 2 of €100,000 Super High Roller
After eight levels of play on the opening day of the €100,000 Super High Roller, a mix of players topped the leaderboard. It's the largest buy-in tournament of the 2019 PokerStars EPT Barcelona which attracted an array of players including many of the best in the world. There will be at least 32 players returning to their seats for Day 2 with their sights set on making the final table.
Leading them all was the 2018 runner-up, Ahadpur Khangah with a whopping 1,390,000 chips. That was far and away the chip leader as the only player with a seven-figure number on his bag from a 250,000 starting stack. While Khangah has found some recent success here at Casino Barcelona, he is still widely considered to be a recreational player against many of his competitors.
Following him in the chip counts are some of the more regulars on the high-roller scene including Teun Mulder (966,000), 2019 EPT Monte Carlo Super High Roller Champion Sergio Aido (852,000), and Michael Addamo (835,000). Rounding out the top five is Japanese music sensation Gakuto "Gackt" Oshiro. Since 1993, Oshiro has made a living as a musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and actor but this week he'll be focusing his attention on the poker felt.
There were a total of 57 entries on the first day, already surpassing the total of the 2018 field. Late registration will remain open until the start of Day 2 and a few others are expected to jump in. Each new player will begin with a stack of 250,000 and the blinds will resume on level 9 at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante.
Beginning at 12:30 pm local time, there will be 10 levels on the schedule for today or until the final six players are reached. The levels will be 60 minutes in length with a 20-minute break after every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break after the sixth level.
