Nines Up Good for Laasonen
A player raised to 600 from under the gun and received a call from a player in the middle position. Timo Laasonen also called from the cutoff, as did the players on the button and in the big blind to take action five ways to the streets.
The dealer fanned a flop of and the big blind checked. The under-the-gun opener made a continuation-bet for another 600 and everybody but the player on the button called.
All four players then checked the turn to bring the river . Action checked to Laasonen and he tossed out a bet of 2,200. The big blind thought for a few moments and proceeded to call, prompting two quick folds from the remaining players left to act.
The dealer announced a showdown and looked to Laasonen to table his hand. Laasonen, in turn, looked to the big blind in the hopes that he would show first. The big blind looked back at Laasonen, indicating he would not comply, and Laasonen tabled for two pair, nines and threes. It proved to be good for the pot as the big blind sent his cards to the muck and the pot was sent Laasonen's way.
