Sahamies Going Strong in Main Event

Ilari Sahamies opened to 5,000 from middle position and Dan Wagner called in the cutoff before Masahiro Yamada three-bet from the button to 20,000. Sahamies did what he does best and four-bet to 45,000, which got Wagner out of the way. Yamada responded with a five-bet shove of 110,000, and Sahamies released his hand.
Sahamies has spent considerable time playing poker in Tallinn in recent years. His last cash in an EPT event dates back to 2019, right here in Prague, where he made a final table appearance in a PLO event. For those unfamiliar with the Finnish poker legend, his online moniker, "Ziigmund," struck fear into the hearts of many players during the golden era of online poker. Known for his fearless and aggressive style, Sahamies was a regular fixture at the highest-stakes cash games on the virtual felt.
