Schwartz and Martini Atop the Field After Day 1 of $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw
After 10 one-hour levels of play, Day 1 of Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw is in the books. The day saw 296 players join and ended with 112 still in contention. The field was loaded with many notable names and at the end of the day, Jake Schwartz and Julien Martini found themselves atop the leaderboard with nearly identical stacks of 117,600 and 117,400 respectively.
Martini was visible throughout the entirety of the day, steadily building his stack as play progressed. He had 34,000 after Level Six, 57,000 in Level Seven, and 73,000 going into the final break of the night after Level Eight. The last two hours of play saw his stack hit six figures, where he ended play with over 117,000 in chips.
Several other players also bagged large stacks, including Brayden Gazlay (91,000), John Racener (83,100), Jason Daly (81,300), Andrey Zhigalov (77,500), and Brandon Shack-Harris (74,300).
Other notable players to find a bag include Layne Flack (66,200), David ��ODB�� Baker (65,900), Benny Glaser (64,100), Chris Vitch (40,200), and James Obst (24,600). Other players such as Todd Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, and David ��Bakes�� Baker did not make it through the day.
Day 2 will resume Sunday at 2 p.m. local time with another 10 hour-long levels on the schedule. Of the remaining players, 45 will make it into the money and lock up a min-cash of $3,737. The eventual winner will earn $160,447 in addition to a WSOP gold bracelet.
Players will return to blinds of 600/1,200 and limits of 1,200/2,400 with 15-minute breaks every two levels and a one-hour dinner break after the sixth level of play for the day.
