Valius188 Triumphs in the PokerStars Super Sunday As $6M Gtd Event Approaches

Table Of Contents
The PokerStars Sunday Million Season continues producing big winners, with Lithuania's "Valius188" being the latest grinder to pad their bankroll with a he prize. "Valius188" was the last player standing from a field of 10,060 in the $109 Super Sunday, a progressive knockout edition of the ever-popular Sunday Million.
The 10,060-strong crowd created a $1,006,000 prize pool where half went into the regular prize pool and the remaining 50 percent was placed on the heads of each entrant in the form of a bounty.
Day 1 ended with only 123 players remaining, each almost tripling their initial $109 buy-in before taking bounties into account.
Belarus' "5Nu4ka" emerged from the Day 1 wreckage with 17,409,140 chips and the title of chip leader. They held a near four million chip advantage over the rest of the field, which included seasoned grinders Henrique "Zanetti89" Zanetti and Arsenii "josef_shvejk" Karmatckii, who each bagged up top ten stacks.

Final table action starts circa. 01:19
A double elimination reduced the last 11 players to the final table of nine. A short-stacked "Mvg92" open-shoved with king-queen, "lugo1990" re-jammed for 11 big blinds with ace-king of clubs, only for "Valius188" to wake up on the button with pocket aces. "Valius188" shipped in their stack for a three-way all-in. The aces held; "Valius188"'s stack swelled to more than 46 big blinds, and the final table was set.
Hungary's "Wlooco" was the first of the finalists to find themselves without any chips. The finalists had exchanged blows for ten minutes before "Wlooco"'s final hand. After opening with ace-four of spades, "Wlooco" checked behind on the four-nine-five flop, called a bet on on the nine of diamonds turn, and couldn't get away from their hand when "Mi$terJack" jammed the jack of spade river. "Wlooco" obviously didn't believe the story they were being told, but they should have because "Mi$terJack" held jack-nine for a full house.
Eighth place went to Romania's "thxalot1" who busted in cruel circumstances. They got their last 10 big blinds in with pocket kings from the cutoff and found themselves up against the ace-jack of spades of "Mi$terJack" in the big blind. The all-in player turned a set, but the river completed a straight for "Mi$terJack." Ouch.
"dddaaamnn"'s elimination was less dramatic. They were left with 0.4 big blinds after "333699" beat their pocket eight with ace-jack of spades. Unsurprisingly, "ddaaamnn" was heading for the exits upon the completion of the next hand.
Another double elimination reduced the player count to four. "Mi$terJack" open shoved from the cutoff with king-deuce. They held 77 big blinds at the time, with the next largest stack worth only 12.5 big blinds. "Majoris88" called off their last 3.5 big blinds in the small blind with pocket eights, and "Erica2131" called all-in for their 6.5 big blinds with ace-queen. A deuce on the flop and another on the turn proved enough to bust two players and extend the leader's advantage.
"333699" was eliminated when they pushed their short stack over the betting line with queen-ten of clubs and couldn't get there against the ace-nine of clubs in the hand of "Valius188," which flopped two pair.
Three-handed play was packed with excitement as the two shorter stacks eroded "Mi$terJack"'s stack. However, the players went on a scheduled break with "SonicXXS" nursing a stack of less than 0.9 big blinds. The doubled immediately but their comeback was halted when their deuces lost a flip to the nine-eight of "Valius188."
Only five big blinds separated "Valius188" from "Mi$terJack" at the start of heads-up. "Valius188" soared into the lead and laid a perfect trap to win the tournament.
"Valius188" slow-played an ace-high flush on the turn of a draw-heavy board, prompting "Mi$tserJack" to shove all-in on the river as a stone cold bluff. "Valius188" snapped off the shove and became PokerStars' latest big winner.
